Consent:
Team Manager/Clubs must make all Entrants/Parents/Carers aware that by entering the National Championship they are agreeing to the level of Physical Readiness to compete. Physical Readiness is the level of health, strength, stamina, fitness, mental and emotional capacity necessary for a participant to be able to undertake an activity without suffering harm or injury caused by the activity itself. Whether or not a person has the necessary level of Physical Readiness may change according to the personal circumstances of the individual at a particular time. SLSGB is responsible for the safety management of the event and for the wellbeing of the participants in those activities, but it is entirely the individuals/parents/carers responsibility to decide if they have the level of Physical Readiness necessary to participate in the events activities.

We strongly advise that all Team Managers, Officials and helpers involved in the event should hold the Level 2 Safeguarding Credential details of how to achieve this can be found here.

By entering the competition, individuals/parents/carers agree that SLSGB events are held in public places and by participating in these Championships, competitors may be photographed, and these may be published. A guide to child welfare procedures for this event will be sent to Team Managers and will be available on request to any interested parties.

If you do not give consent for your child to have photographs taken and possibly used for promotional purposes which may include media, social media and website images, at SLSGB events, it is your responsibility to register with the National Safeguarding Manager or Event Manager at the SLSGB event HQ at the beginning of the event.

Cancellation Policy:
From the moment SLSGB begin to organise an event, we start to incur costs. Member's entry fee is invested into the cost of staging the event, hiring facilities, hiring and buying equipment. In short, organising any event requires a considerable amount of forward planning, risk and expense. Once you pay your entry fee that money is spent and with it SLSGB aims to provide you with a race. In open water competition, adverse weather can create extremes in heat or cold, storms, dangerous surf or swell and associated dangers for competitors. Man-made disasters such as pollution of the water and beach cannot be discounted.
If an event must be postponed or cancelled for safety reason, including inclement weather, concerted effort will be made to notify those who have pre-registered and have provided a contact phone number or e–mail address. If an event is to be rescheduled, all members will be notified of the new event date (if time scales allow). If an Event cannot be rescheduled or run later in the day there will only be a percentage of entry fees refunded after all running cost have be calculated.
